Women’s Fashion – Part 1

I’ve deliberately not posted too much about the pandemic or about lockdown, since I think we’re all pretty much sick of it. However, I have been lucky enough to visit the National Gallery a couple of times (more on that later) and one recent trip, I stopped on the way home for a glass of wine with a friend. Waiting in the bar I was able to do some excellent people watching. There were a few older couples (it was quite a swanky place) and a couple of older men who clearly frequented the place for dinner on their own.

A younger couple arrived, clearly dressed for meeting friends or a party of some sort. And it struck me just how ridiculous women’s fashion is. Specifically shoes. The man was in a nice pair of flat, sensible suede brogues, and the woman was in heels which looked uncomfortable and impractical. Maybe I’m just no longer a heels wearer but it struck me how media and society has told us that women’s shoes have heels to make us taller (and makes our boobs and bums stick out more prominently) whereas as men get comfort over style, again.

So I’m done with fashion, I’m going to be comfortable from now on.

I’ve also labelled this part 1 as I’m far from done on this topic.
