The Pub

Not really worth of a whole post but here it is. I’ve been to the pub twice this week. That also means that twice this week someone else has cooked for food for me. It was fabulous both times.

On Wednesday evening I went to my old local, walkable from my mum’s house, where I grew up. As a group we used to go there the whole time, it was a favourite. It’s called ‘The Two Poplars’ but is always just called, ‘The Pops’. I used to go there so much I even got a part time job in there. I actually used to love working a bar, and pulling a pint is not actually as easy as it looks. So Wednesday evening I had a burger and chips. I’ve really missed chips in lockdown, I don’t eat them very regularly, almost never at home, oven chips just aren’t all that. It was great and the lockdown pub experience was actually pretty good. Lots of hand sanitiser, one way systems, the return of sauce sachets (and I hate the additional plastic waste this will generate), but all in all very good.

My second outing was a socially distant lunch with 2 co-workers, which was just fabulous and great to be able to go back to our ‘work local’, I had a Caesar salad and chips. I couldn’t help it. The salad was really good, albeit not a ‘proper’ Caesar salad. The advantage of social distancing is that I have one co-worker who thinks its ok to eat off your plate, you know, just to try your food. And I don’t share food. So social distancing has put an end to that. Silver linings eh?
